Dickeys' Barbecue Pit opens today at 5872 Samet Drive.

The restaurant, which features Texas smoked barbecue, opens at the Palladium Commons Center at N.C. 68, Eastchester Drive and Wendover Avenue.

Dickey's menu includes beef brisket, pulled pork, ham, polish sausage, turkey breast, chicken, pork ribs and spicy cheddar sausage.

Sides include jalapeno beans to macaroni and cheese.

As part of the grand opening today, customers can get a one dollar pulled pork barbecue sandwich from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Customers can also enter a drawing to win free barbecue for a year. Radio station Q104 will be there to entertain the crowd.

Through Feb. 29, children ages 12 and younger can get a free kid's meal with a paid adult meal at all participating Dickey's locations. Kids also can eat free on Sundays.

Dickey's Barbecue Pit also has a location at the corner of Jonestown Road and Hanes Mall Boulevard in Winston-Salem.

In 1941, Travis Dickey opened the first restaurant in Dallas. Dickey's currently has 206 locations in 36 states nationwide.

Dickey's is good barbeque albeit Texas style. I usually hit one of the Dickey's in DFW airport when I'm flying through there for a good, quick meal. The brisket is what they are famous for but the barbeque turkey is good too.

This place really is awful. They opened one in Winston last year. I'd appreciate a good Texas-style joint, but this is just another chain. Everything tastes frozen.

I think Dickey's Barbecue Pit should have some of our Boar and Castle Sauce. Texas and North Carolina, that's a great match!!!! Try the brisket with B&C, it's really yummy! I take my bottle of Boar and Castle with me everywhere, I wish they would open that up again!
